Accounts Process

  Creative Brief

The CustomInk team and a local web design agency led collaborative design sessions, which I hadn’t experienced in a corporate setting before. I used what I observed to be the goals for their new and improved site to outline a design brief. The document considered business needs for adding an account feature and how new designs could address those needs


  Personas

Through user testing, CustomInk discovered that their user base was changing. They asked me to create personas for potential customers in order to discuss different user needs in context. Creating the personas helped me to understand the uniqueness of the e-commerce business.


  User Pathway

My next step in the accounts process was to put together an inventory of the website in its current state. I was able to assess how accounts would fit into the flow by detailing what pages were needed in the existing pathway.


  Wireframing  /   Prototyping

Once I knew what pages were needed for accounts, I helped to wireframe the holes that were discovered in the pathway. I then put these wireframes into a prototype using Axure to show my team how the pages would function with the website. I also worked with a Foundation HTML prototype site.


  Testing Solutions

I used my prototype to create a user test that considered the flow of a new pathway on the website. I also sat in on countless phone user tests as the note taker for my coworkers, and was able to observe test proctor protocol.


  Testing Results

While at CustomInk, I was able to see many new examples of user experience deliverables. Their solution for displaying user testing results in a conversation timeline was very interesting to me, and I enjoyed creating some of them.


  Functional Specifications

The last step in the design process was to outline the new accounts flow for developers. As this project dealt more with information architecture than UI, it was a great learning experience for me to shift my thinking in this way.
